Broken Things
Last year around this time I was struggling a bit, and I always find poetry helps communicate both despair and hope. It helps me at times preach to my own soul. I had a few fragments, some broken pieces you might say, but then was inspired by Julie Andrew’s classic, “My Favorite Things” and “Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night” by Dylan Thomas.
If you find yourself “struggling a bit” like me I hope that this too can preach to your soul as well.
Broken Things
By T.A. PrewittI once had hopes and dreams, but now they’re broken
All that is left are a few memories and some tokens.
Once flew high but life clipped my wings.
Now I am just another one of the broken things.I used to be strong in spirit, but now I’m battered.
It feels like my heart and mind are both fractured.
I yearn for the peace that sleep and death brings.
Now that I am just another one of the broken things. On days I feel like I will never win.
And the moments I just want to give in.
I remember that God redeems broken things.
